Our trip to Blackberry Farm!

During the Easter holidays, our children from Egglescliffe and Northallerton nurseries jumped into their wellies and overalls to understand a day in the life at Blackberry Farm!

For many of our children, this was a first-time experience, interacting with a variety of animals including alpacas, donkeys, horses, chickens, geese, lambs and goats.

Our little farmers had the opportunity to bottle-feed newborn lambs, find eggs from the poultry, and take part in the daily activities that make the farm operate.

These unique and hands-on experiences not only left our little ones bursting with excitement but were also an important step in their development. Engaging with these farm animals enhances

children’s language, motor and sensory skills, in addition to sparking curiosity.

With a commitment to outdoor learning, we recognise the importance of our children's development outside the classroom and have embarked on a variety of projects.

Manager Jodie said: “The trip to the farm was such an enjoyable experience for the children, which has promoted key values of kindness and respect.

We are always trying to provide children with an insight into the world around them that they can take back to the nursery and other parts of their life.”
